Nerva, 96-98. Denarius (Subaeratus, 18 mm, 3.16 g, 6 h), a contemporary plated imitation from an irregular mint, after 97. IMP NERVA CAES AVG P M TR P COS III P P Laureate head of Nerva to right. Rev. COS III PATER PATRIAE T (sic!) Simpulum, sprinkler, jug and lituus. Cf. BMC 56, Cohen 51 and RIC 34 (for prototype). Nicely toned and with an attractive portrait, a very attractive imitation. Minor breaks in plating, otherwise, good very fine.

From an American collection, privately acquired at the New York International Numismatic Convention in 2002.
